What is AI image sharpening?
AI image sharpening uses a trained model to recover the edge detail that's been softened by blur, low focus, JPEG compression, or scanning artefacts. Unlike a classic unsharp-mask filter — which indiscriminately amplifies every pixel boundary, including noise and skin texture — an AI sharpener identifies which edges are real structure and which are artefacts, then tightens only the real ones.
