Colour codes, Lab values and why they matter for textiles
RGB is for screens and CMYK for paper printing. For fabric, what travels between a designer and a mill is a colour reference: a code for the conversation and Lab values for the spectrophotometer that checks the dye. The Texloom colour library gives every colour both.
Texloom Colour Library takes a hex or RGB colour, a colour picked from your screen, or an image, and finds the closest library colours. It ranks the five closest by CIEDE2000 Delta E, the standard formula for how different two colours look: under 1 is hard to see, and under 2 is a close match.
It shows five matches because the closest by the numbers isn't always the right one; the second may have a warmer undertone that suits the fabric better. Pin up to 24 colours, copy their values, and export the set as an ASE swatch file. Each colour also carries CMYK and RGB values, so the same reference works on screen, on paper and at the mill.
