Separation Studio
Separate any design into individual colour channels ready for screen printing — K-means clustering, Pantone matching, halftone generation. Free account includes 100 credits.
Why colour separation matters — and what 'good' looks like
Screen printing requires one screen per colour. A 6-colour design needs six perfectly-registered screens, each carrying only that one colour's ink. The challenge: translating your full-colour design file into six clean colour channels, each with crisp edges and appropriate tonal handling.
Our separator uses K-means clustering to identify the dominant colours in your design, then matches each to the closest Pantone TCX so your print shop can mix accurate ink. For tonal areas (gradients, photographic elements), it generates halftone dots at the optimal angle per colour to avoid moire.
Ink-reduction optimisation means we can knock low-coverage colours out of overlapping areas — fewer ink layers, better registration, lower production cost. Who uses this: screen printers prepping production files, POD sellers submitting to manufacturing, t-shirt designers ensuring their 6-colour design separates cleanly at pre-press.

Upload your design
JPG, PNG, WEBP — flat colour designs work best. Photographic elements generate halftones automatically.
Pick colour count
2 to 8 colours typical. More colours = more screens = higher cost. The tool suggests an optimal count based on your image.
Download separated files
Each colour channel as a separate PNG, plus a Pantone spec sheet. Upload directly to your print shop.
