Style Transfer

Neural style transfer is an AI technique that takes two images — your content photo and a style reference — and produces a new image that keeps the content of the first but adopts the visual style of the second. The AI decomposes style (brushwork, colour palette, texture) from content (subjects, composition) at the layer level, then recombines them.

For textile designers this is powerful: you can apply the style of a historical fabric print to a modern photo, blend two aesthetic traditions, or test how a hand-painted motif would look on a photographed object. Watercolour, oil paint, ink wash, embroidery stitches, block printing — any texture or style can be transferred from a reference image onto your photo.

The model preserves the geometric composition of your content image (the subjects, their placement, the overall scene structure) while painting it with the textures and colour harmonies of the style. You control the strength of transfer: subtle to keep the photo recognisable, dramatic to produce a fully stylised artwork.
