Pro Tips
Always add 10% extra to calculated requirements for cutting variations and mistakes.
Random adds 5% for matching, against 10% for Brick and 15% for Half-Drop. Use it when the print allows.
54" fabric often has better yield than 44" for the same garments - run both to compare total cost.
How do I…
How do I allow for a half-drop or brick repeat?
Choose it under Pattern Match. Half-Drop adds 15% per piece, Brick 10% and Random 5%; Straight adds nothing.
How do I check whether my rolls cover the order?
Open Rolls and add each roll's length, width and defects with + Add Roll. Pieces are counted roll by roll, since a piece never spans two rolls, and a roll narrower than your fabric gives proportionally less. You see the pieces you can cut and any shortage or surplus.
How do I work in yards and inches?
Use the Units toggle. It starts on your Units setting (Settings > Units); switching changes this session only, exports included.
How do I save the calculation?
Export Report saves a text report, Export as CSV saves the figures for a spreadsheet, and Copy puts the results on your clipboard.

Production Order Estimation
A garment manufacturer receives an order for 500 ladies' kurtis with a 6-inch repeat pattern. They need the total fabric for the order. Settings: Garments > Kurti, Half-Drop match, 44" / 112cm width, Quantity 500. Result: the total metres and the metres per piece, including the extra for lining up the half-drop.
Cost Comparison for Widths
A buyer is deciding between 44" fabric at $5/m vs 54" fabric at $6.50/m for a bedsheet order. They need to compare total costs. They ran the same order at each width with price estimation on and Currency set to USD, then compared the total cost. Settings: Home Textiles > Bedsheet (Double), compare both widths.
Pattern Matching vs Random
A designer wants to know the fabric savings from using a random/all-over print vs a large repeat requiring pattern matching. Half-Drop adds 15% for lining up the repeat; Random adds 5%. Settings: Compare Half-Drop vs Random placement.
