When to Use
- Generating seasonal colorways from a single base pattern
- Adapting one artwork to multiple brand palettes
- Recoloring layered PSDs without re-painting in Photoshop
- Finding production-safe Pantone TCX equivalents for screen colors
- Producing a duotone or limited-palette version of a complex design
Pro Tips
Drop a PSD to keep layers — PNG/JPG/WebP also work but flatten the result
Switch modes freely: each mode keeps its own variants so you don't burn credits regenerating
Use Extract Colors before generating in Colorway mode — without mappings the run is rejected
Click any variant to preview it on the main canvas; the original stays for hover-to-compare
Download All ZIP (icon button beside Download) bundles every variant in the chosen format
Variants auto-save for 24h — refresh or switch tools and they restore
Hold edits before pressing Generate Variants — the button only re-enables when settings (or color edits) actually change
What to Expect
Best Results
- PSDs with named, flat-color layers
- Designs with 3–8 distinct colors
- RGB sources (CMYK PSDs are converted)
- Raster images with strong color separation
Limited Results
- Photographic images with thousands of subtly varying colors (k-means struggles)
- Heavy gradient artwork (recolor looks blotchy without high Edge Blending)
- Near-monochrome images (Colorway extraction warns and may produce only one mapping)
- PSDs with smart objects, adjustment layers, or non-standard blend modes
Real-World Examples
Seasonal Pack from One PSD
A floral PSD with named layers was generated into Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter colorways via the seasonal palette presets, then exported as four layered PSDs with one ZIP click.
Brand-Specific Recolor
Colorway mode extracted 6 dominant colors, each remapped to a brand's Pantone-snapped hex via the color picker. Edge Blending = 60 kept the soft watercolor edges intact.
Raster Pattern, No PSD
A flat PNG mockup was dropped in, Palette mode generated Primary / Secondary / Duotone / Full Remap variants in one shot, and PNG/JPG download worked even though there was no PSD source.
